Light writing

This process Is with a setting of a low shutter speed in order to capture the movement of light in the photograph. A low exposure is also helpful because of how long the shutter is letting light in, the photo can be over exposed easily if more light is let in. this technique can used to create blur or interesting shapes around a still subject.

Pros

Cons

Eye catching effects can be created.

Its hard for other aspects to be completely still.

Slow shutter speed gives less chance for shadows to be visible.

Other light movement may take away from the main focus

Illusions of movement can be captured

If a specific movement is wanted it may take multiple tries to get it right.

The next image has two guys possibly denoted as in a fight or battle, with their two different stances and seemingly motion caught on camera, they're outside in the evening and although the facial expressions are unclear neither of them seem happy. When taking this photo once again we used the proper sparklers and instructed each subject to stand as still as possible while moving the sparkler around this effect captured the movement while having the subjects remain in his most possible focus. This is due to the fact that I handheld a DSLR camera in order to capture this photo as it would take away from the detail of the movement of light. We chose two different movements that successfully came out conveying their movement allowing the audience to see what they're doing.

This image shows a girl behind a star, she is outside in the evening however the exact description of the girl is unclear as she is not in focus nor is the background for the location. When creating a photo for light writing we decided to use the props of sparklers as they are easy to write in the air with, we let a few sparklers and tried a few different shapes to see which turned out the best and eventually agreed on the design of a star as her face is in the centre of the star. I stood about two metres away from the girl and focused on her however handheld the camera so that when taking the photo because of the long exposure she wouldn't be in focus anyways. I set the shutter speed to about 3 seconds to give the girl enough time to draw the entire star slow enough that it would show up clearly in the finished result.

The final photo shows a man standing in the centre of the frame facing the camera with both hands towards the lens there is a small part of light writing however this adds to the picture and makes it seem as though he is mid action rather than just finished a motion. When taking this I slightly crouched below to be looking up at him partly this is to give him a more powerful appearance as he is doing emotion connotated with the MCU universe Doctor Strange move, the fact that the circle and like writing is incomplete adds to the effect and was purposely used so that the man would still be in clear focus as rather than having a few seconds for the shutter speed there was only one second. This meant that he was in focus and there was still decent amount of light writing it will have to convey what is happening to the audience as well as enough lighting in the background to still capture the foreground in light without a flash.
