Photos at night

Photography at night can be harder to see because of the lack of light however often photographers will use a flash or minimal light to create a dim view. This style of photography is a specific genre that has different connotations to images taken in the daylight.

Pros

Cons

Easily portrays darkens or horror.

Can be hard to so the photo because of lack of light.

Can make a simple location more interesting through lights.

Images can be grainy because of a high ipso number.

The weather has less affect, rain adds to the cool affect rather than it gloomy and cloudy.

Blurry due to low shutter speed settings.

here there is a girl in the middle of a road with buildings in the distance and with two other people to her side that aren't in focus, therefore not drawing too much attention. To take this photo we decided not to use the flash aspect however, we did remain with the choice of a DSLR camera as it is more likely to let in further light when needing to, instead we asked her to stand below a street lamp in the middle of a road. We ensured there was no cars around to safely allow me to Crouch on the ground holding the camera tilted up towards the main subject. as she posed for the photo I decided to use the style of candid pictures therefore I didn't fully focus on her however made sure that she was definitely more clearly seen than the two other people in the background of the photo, this is because they are there to make it seem more natur, l hence the candid result however, I also didn't want them to be drawing attention and so I ensured that they were less in the light and far to the left of the screen not wearing bold colours or doing an interesting action.

This photo shows 3 girls outside at night on a road, in mid motion of the same action, this is clear as they all seem to be moving towards the viewers left while having their weight on their back leg. To take this we had the subjects near a street lamp as well as using the flash on a DSLR camera in order to capture them in as much light as possible we then instructed them when to make this same movement so that it would come across as cohesive and eventually decided to use one where they were at slightly different points so that the audience can pick up what the movement is by putting context clues together. of where each of them are at inside movement I chose to focus on the girl in the middle as she is in the direct eye line of the audience however ensured that the other two girls were also clear and not blurry, leaving the background blurry. In post production I realised that the template of the car behind the girls is illuminant when the flash was used although this is not a significant disruption it does partly draw the attention of the viewer's eye as it is a very bold colour that stands out more than the common colours that the girls are wearing.

This image has 2 girls coming together to make one heart with both of their hands while also covering their faces away from the camera in the centre there is a building that is lit up by a lamp in the distance this helps to create a background and also give a little context otherwise because of the lack of light the background would be purely black. When taking the photo I used the flash  element on my DSLR camera, and a tripod to get the correct height as well as minimal hand movement because I would need the exposure to be slightly longer because of their lack of light. When adjusting the settings on the camera I chose to focus it on the face of the girl to the right this is not the most obvious thing however ,if looking closely their hands are not fully in focus which does partly take away from the main focus point of the photo. an audience member is likely to take this image in all at once as there is nothing extraordinarily eye-catching about the minor hand gesture in the centre of the frame apart from the placement of the surrounding items adding to the miss-en-scene.
